John Trying To Unlock The Door Without Success

A good night with very little traffic. The road ahead looked reasonable and time to unload the cycles to see what lay ahead. More views, and it felt good to be on the bike in sunshine. Further along the road the small 'township' of Kilmory, a group of smart looking dwellings facing the sea with a cemetry and Kilmory Knap Chapel placed in the middle, a delightful looking building thought to have been built in the early 1300's. The windows and roof are now covered in glass to preserve what is left. More uphill cycling (walking) and then a turn around and back to the van with a return drive to Achnamara taking a left turn at the junction down the other side off Loch Sween B8025 driving though Tayvallic, a sizeable village, to look at tomorrow on the way back.

On the way a sign for Taynish Nature reserve, a slight diversion but worth the drive along road/track. The parking area was good with the walk to an old corn mill interesting with tiny damsel flies of all around us, bright blue, red, green, also a wren and a scurrying vole in a hurry to meet us until oh dear, perhaps not and he disappeared. And some art, Perspex life size figures dotted amongst the trees, with one piece mirrored, facing the path we walked down, yes like a hall of of mirrors. Thinking this is a strange place to build a mill more or less in the middle of nowhere by the sea we find that 200 years ago the population in the area was around two and half thousand.

Back to the B road and on towards Keils Church apparently a plainer version of Kilmory chapel, however the road sign discouraged vehicles, duly noted and we are now camped on a tiny area called Danna island, with a view of Kiels church. And almost opposite last nights camp.
