A whole new world

Apart from the fact we didn't have breakfast until midday or shower til 1 or leave the house for lunch til 3 or eat our dinner til 9.30, I don't think we did too bad for our first night and day home.

Overnight we struggled a bit to get the lighting situation right - in the hospital lights were always on so I could see her but that wouldn't work for anyone here. But we did ok and apart from an hour or so in the middle of the night when she just wouldn't settle (when the fella was awesome and took her so I could sleep) it wasn't too bad and felt like we got a reasonable amount of sleep (def not what I would have classed reasonable in the past tho!)

The time then just ran away with us as we played, tried her in her new swing seat (I think it worked), fed her (which we're getting on ok with - yay!) and had a home visit from the midwife (who seems happy with how we're both getting on). But we we're determined to get out so walked up to our favourite local deli and sat outside having lunch (whilst making sure MBD was in the shade) - I had an amazing goat cheese, salami and sundries tomato baguette. God I missed goat cheese. The fella also treated me to some chicken liver pate which I have been craving for the last few months. A quick stroll to Boots to stock up on nappies then popped to see a friend from work on the way home - who'd kindly dropped a card and some M&S cookies off for us. Again the gifts and cards we've had from people have really touched me - last night we got accosted by our elderly neighbours opposite who we're saying how worried they were as they haven't seen us for a week. She then insisted I pop into their house as she'd been knitting for us!! We've only spoke to them a few times and couldn't believe the effort she'd made even doing 2 different options depending on the sex. So we now have a cardi, little rabbit and a few hearts.

Back home we watched the Italy Costa Rica match - I have to say I actually wanted Costa Rica to win. England have been so shit they didn't deserve to go through and Costa Rica were awesome. I may have had a little snooze during the game! It then took a while for MBD to settle hence the late dinner but we did it and survived our first day.

As I write this I can hear the fella talking nonsense, singing and being generally amazing as he changes and dresses MBD. He is already an awesome father.
