Cairn o' Mount

I had been on the road since 8am from Skene to Dunfermline to Grangemouth to Leith to Kirriemuir and the thermometer in the car had read 27.5 centigrade at times, I felt slimey to say the least and had a choice, it was 8.30pm, should I stay on the most boring piece of road on the planet which is the A90 between Dundee and Aberdeen and hope that Aunt Betty would be open at Stonehaven to reward and cool me with her sublime ice cream or should I turn off and enjoy the single track road over the Cairn o' Mount and be spiritually rewarded by the view at the top. I opted for the B road and have to say an iphone can do no justice to the sense of space you get standing at a viewpoint where you can see three of the most picturesque counties in Scotland and all under a dramatic turbulent sky. The breeze, nay, near gale whipped off my slimey sweaty coating, refreshed my heart and soul and gave me a refreshed and happy drive home.....But I think an Aunt Betty's Ice cream with all the toppings could have done much the same!
