The bacon bush
This beautiful hardy fuchsia goes by the name of Fuchsia magellanica 'Lady Bacon'. Lady Bacon, she of Raveningham Hall in Norfolk, apparently travelled to Chile some years ago and this fuchsia is named after her - although I've seen an identical flower on a Chilean wildflower website where it was identified as a naturally occurring form.
Whatever it is, it makes a beautiful large shrub at Arduaine and now that the heavy shade which once covered this plant has gone it's been flowering with even greater abandon!
