Best Known Protest Icon

The 'Ban the Bomb' symbol started life as the emblem of the British anti-nuclear movement more than 55 years ago, but since then it has become the international sign for peace, and arguably the most widely used protest symbol in the world. It has also been adapted, attacked and commercialized widely.

Needles to say you probably spotted it before even reading the title or the text and that proves the power of a strong iconic symbol ;-)

Did you know its a graphic combination of the old flag alphabet signals used on ships and symbolizes the two letters 'N' and 'D' for Nuclear Disarmament and placing them within a circle symbolizing the Earth.
