The life that once through Bandon's halls

I met a few classmates from college days today in Bandon and after lunch we took a stroll through the Castlebernard Estate. The castle was once the seat of Lord Bandon but the opulent home was torched during what locals euphemistically call "the troubles" i.e. the war of independence.
Ironically, much of the lands are now home to Bandon Golf Club where the descendants of the nationalists play golf in a Gaelic kind of way!
