Giant Poppies

Met up with a friend in Perth today for lunch and a wander round Branklyn Gardens. Much of the colour of last month had gone as the rhododendrons have faded, but there were lots of new plants and some amazing growth.

These are giant poppies - the Himalayan variety (Mecanopsis) as opposed to the more common Papaver and these pink beauties were at least 2 metres high (6 feet in old money!) They came in a variety of colours, including the more famous Blue Poppy and obviously love the conditions in this garden.

Lovely warm, sunny day again, although not as hot as yesterday and with a cool breeze at times. Much more pleasant for walking around:-)
