This afternoon I popped in to Leeds to drop of a few photos taken last week and to take a few detail photos around Leeds market.

There was talk about a walk out by some of the market traders next week in protest at the changes planned for the market and the market management's lack of communication with the traders. I've been invited along to take photos and will hopefully be able to make it.

The planned 'smartening up' of the market is going to mean increased rents for the traders who will have to pass those costs on to their customers. The fear is that the traders will loose customers and there will be a decline in footfall in the market. There are plenty of places in Leeds catering for people who have a bit more money to spend but the market is one of the few places that people on lower incomes can afford to buy a wide range of goods including fruit and veg at very affordable prices.

I liked the message on Morris' top, Like the Market it may be a little tatty around the edges but it's full of soul and character, so today's blip is .....
