Italy
Time to leave our beautiful campsite in the mountains sadly, it’s been such a fantastic place to visit. A little work first and then we finally made it on the road around 1.30. A little late given we have around 330km to go, admittedly 240 of them on the AutoRoute …
Having had a busy few days, we hadn’t planned this next stage very well. Cinque Terre was the general destination, but there are many small towns north and south you can stay at, then venture into the town. Unfortunately, as I had just discovered, the data component of Orange plan stopped working at the Italian border. So while we had GPS, we hadn’t chosen a campground. And to make matters worse, I hadn’t downloaded the offline data for our camping app. Collision of bad decisions … oh well!
So to cut a long story short, we arrived in Sestri Levante with some idea of where we wanted to go. After looking at 3 campgrounds, things were looking a little dire, so we headed down to the next village, Deiva Marina where we found a campsite, Camping degli Ulivi.
Not perfect, as right next to the train lines, but only 100m away from the beach, its own pizza restaurant and bar, and clean a tidy. Being 8pm, we decided to stay, regardless of the noise and 57 euro per night price … And with a good wifi connection back in place, needless to say we corrected some of the oversights in planning.
Pizza dinner, a beer, and then down to the Mediterranean to see. What a relief to be here!
