Who is she?

I bought this yesterday and read it in 2 sittings. I read on Susan Hills website about her aim to write a traditional ghost story and her list of 'ingredients'
1. Haunted location
2. Atmosphere
3. Weather (fog, mist,dusk,twighlight, drizzle)
4. A ghost (an apparition of one no longer alive who looks as they did when alive and seen by people still living)
5. Ghost must have a purpose

This wonderful story has all these ingredients but it is the skill with which they are mixed, cared for, and nurtured into a truly terrifying tale that makes this such a tasty tasty dish to devour.
