Howking the Tatties

The annual task of "Howkin' the Tatties" is something that has changed enormously during my lifetime, with much of the work being done by huge machines. However, it still looks like a hard, hot job in the recent heat. This field of Ayrshires is being lifted from a field at Portencross, near West Kilbride, known locally as "Tattie Toon".
