Wild Orchid No 2

Although I'd spotted this a couple of times at a distance recently, I hadn't gone close enough to see what it really was! I was amazed to see it was another wild orchid. I've done my best to identify it and I think it's a common spotted orchid, which isn't as common as it's name would have you believe!


I'm always surprised that a flower like this hasn't been picked, as I'm sure as a child I would have added it to my bunch of wild flowers ready to put in a vase at home. Maybe that just shows how times have changed. Either the mums tell the children not to pick a flower that may be rare(unlikely!) or children don't get pleasure from making a bunch to take home, or possibly they're not taken to the common in the first place to enjoy all the beauty that is so close........most likely I suspect ;-(
