A Whin-Win Situation

I was up early this morning to do my usually pre-fungi survey bird walk. The highlight was seeing 2 pairs of Whinchat. The males, unusually were not posing as well as the females, but even though the males are much flashier, I liked this photo of the sweet little female. when we got back to Grindleford at the end of the day, we saw a notice which said that Network Rail are not now going to pursue the idea of the loop in that area through our precious woodland but are looking elsewhere, the reason being concerns about environmental impact. Result!!! I suppose we'll never know if our efforts there had any bearing on this decision. I'd like to thing it did.
