What do they really think.

Is it a fair division of labour or Bud just being bossy?

Poppy has the fun of swimming out to get the ball, Bud waits in the shallows for her to deliver the ball. He has the fun of returning it to me.

Poppy knows her place in life, she does the work, Bud gets the prize?

She certainly is a very athletic dog, but not the faithful hound of stories and legends. She would leave me lying in the road without a backward glance. Bud however this morning proved that he is. I tripped and fell whilst walking them down to the beach. Pops just carried on without me, but Bud was most concerned and jumped on me, licking my face to encourage me to get up. Or did he just think I was playing a new, fun game and wanted to join in.

You can read almost anything into their actions, but I did like to feel that he was worried.
