La Hulpe Station on Belgian Railways

La Hulpe station opened for traffic in August 1854 built by the Grand Railway Company de Luxembourg, as part of the new railway from Brussels to Luxembourg.

It developed La Hulpe on the south side of Brussels in the Forest of Soignes as a commuter destination. The first station has fallen into ruins by 1878, but was rebuilt by the nationalised SNCB in 1886. This is the station you see here, which the nationalised railway planned to knock down until rescued by the Commune of La Hulpe in the 90s.

It stands as an excellently renovated example of late 19th Century Belgian railway architecture
