The railroad comes through the middle of the house
I don't suppose anyone in Blipland remembers that song from Children's Favourites?
Well it's not quite like that in our house, but almost. The railway used to run at the back of the house. Part of our house was part of the old station, (the waiting rooms (gents and ladies) are now our garage) and adjoined to the house, in the garden, we still have the platform and canopy and some other accoutrements on the platform, including three chocolate vending machines (the third is currently awaiting re-hanging as it was moved when we had some work done recently).
I'd like to get the chocolate machines renovated really, but haven't a clue where to start. It would be nice to have a bar of Cadbury's now and then.
For those of you who don't remember that song, a couple of verses go like this:-
They let us live in the front of the house
They let us live in the back
But there ain't no livin' in the middle of the house
'Cause that's the railroad track
When a bill collector comes to the house
He knocks and bangs on the door
So we sit him right down in the middle of the house
And he never comes back no more
No, he never comes back no more
Maybe they were singing about us after all.
