Cornwall Day 4
In the morning we said goodbye to our house and our view, and then to Mousehole. We got the bus to Penzance for the last time, sat amongst 4 tiny fluffy dogs (so cute). Thankfully the guys in the tourist information centre were ok with us leaving our heavy bags there, on the promise that we would definitely be back to collect them before they closed.
We'd planned to get the bus along to Marazion and St Michael's Mount but the weather was so beautiful that we decided to walk instead. We stopped midway for ice creams from the most unexpectedly cool shop ever - I had coffee flavour and G had gooseberry yoghurt flavour. They were both delicious, and eating them was a lot more enjoyable when not terrified by the prospect of seagull attack.
The tide was out when we got to the Mount, so we walked to it across the sand. There were so many steps up to the castle - although 'steps' makes it sound a lot easier to navigate than it was... more like stones randomly shoved onto a hill. We looked around the castle (no wax models thankfully), then had a picnic outside to enjoy the view. By the time we'd finished eating the tide was back in, so we got a boat back over to the mainland.
We walked back to Penzance, stopping on the way for a paddle in the sea, picked up our bags, and caught the train to Penmere. Harry met us at the station and took us back to his house. We got the official tour, then headed out for the official tour of Falmouth. Got chips from Rick Stein's restaurant, then walked down to Gylly, then round to Swanpool. By some miracle, the chips survived that whole journey, and we ate them on the beach at Swanpool. After a while we were joined by Selena, then walked back up the hill and to bed.
