Road worker

This friendly guy was doing a repair on the road. First removed the old seal which was trucked away, then layered down some geo material so the stones would not push into the clay, next some shingle next a geo mesh that held the stones and shingle in place then more shingle or gravel on top. Guess they will tar seal it in a few days once it's compacted.
Asked about his ear ring it's smaller now as his partner does not like it too large. The ring is rubber so you can sleep on it. Sounds like quite a painful process getting the opening so big
