Listening

I was at my first Children's Hearings Scotland Board meeting today. After a strategy session in the morning our formal public meeting kicked off with some young people from Who Cares? Scotland putting on mock hearings. The aim was to help us explore the experiences and views of young people appearing before hearings.

The event was very well staged and stimulated an active discussion over what we and others needed to consider doing. Some issues would require action in concert with other partners and have many implications for the way we work. But the challenge for us is how to make our systems more child/ young person friendly.

Lots of food for thought and a great way to start our proceedings.
