Pub No1
The City Limits pub used to be called the Boundary Bar. It was called the Boundary Bar because it was on the boundary between the City of Edinburgh and the Port of Leith. There was a time when this meant that they needed two alcohol licenses, and had to obey two sets of licensing hours.
My Dad tells me that he remembers drinking in the bar when the lights flashed 'time'. The customers simply picked up their drinks and moved to the other end of the bar as the Port of Leith allowed their pubs to remain open an hour later than Edinburgh.
Gone are the days....
I plan a theme of pubs, watch this space.
