Bolton Castle, Wensleydale
Bolton Castle was built by Sir Richard le Scrope, Chancellor of England to Richard II. Work began in 1379 and was completed in 1399.
It is one of the best preserved medieval castles, originally built as one of the finest and most luxurious homes in the land.
It bears the scars of over 600 years of fascinating history and is still in the private ownership of Lord Bolton, the direct descendant of the castle's original owner.
The Castle is in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire and is amongst the most stunning scenery you can find in England.
