Thw future is not my period

After a long day at work and a lunch break that somehow went AWOL an entertaining early evening at the University.

'Scotland's past and present', a discussion between Dr Gordon Brown MP and the newly knighted Prof Sir Tom Devine to mark the latter's leaving. I sat, a history graduate of' '75, and enjoyed a fascinating discussion. Jim Naughtie chaired the last bit, 3 very talented Scots. No answer to the question 'yes or no?' in September but at the end Tom Devine did give some thoughts on the challenges posed by both outcomes. He also said what N and I recognised a year ago, that the outcome of the vote will be shaped as much, probably more, by what happens externally, down south, as by what happens internally. I heard as much on the top deck of a #37 last week.

Interesting times indeed.
