"A Right Royal Victory"
The headline in our local paper, which has been campaigning for two years, along with our MP (of plebgate fame), to reinstate Sutton Coldfield's right to royal status. They succeeded on Thursday, in an Adjournment Debate in Parliament. Not sure what difference it makes, but always satisfying to win a battle against bureaucracy - the title was apparently lost when Sutton became part of the Birmingham City Council.
The title was originally given by Henry VIII in 1528 - the legend has it that it was in gratitude to a local girl who saved his life by shooting a boar that was about to attack him.
So maybe I should change my journal's title to "lovingROYALSutton"??
