Dougie's Merc

Very sad day today - it was the funeral of a good friend of mine - Dougie Mansfield - an all round Good Guy!
Until recently Dougie had the local cycle shop in Mytholmroyd - many are the tales (all good) that people would tell you of how kind and generous he was.
Not surprisingly he was a keen cyclist and was really looking forward to Le Tour de France coming through Mytholmroyd - and it was due on his birthday.
However Dougie missed out - he died on 1st June after a short illness - aged 67 - a sad loss.
Apart from cycling, and his family, his other great love was his 1957 Mercedes-Benz 220S Cabriolet and it came to oversee his final journey. Here it stands outside St. Michael's Church, Mytholmroyd at his funeral.
