Virgin Territory

Today our visitors returned to the UK. They had rented a car so we went with them as far as Cernobbio, just short of Como. Here we stopped for lunch before they continued on their way to the airport. Instead we had intended to take a stroll around Cernobbio, but the heavens opened so we took the ferry back to Lenno instead.

The photograph shows Richard Branson's villa in Lenno. Now that he lives in the Virgin Islands I suspect he is a very rare visitor to Lenno, if at all. Apparently the villa can be rented for the modest sum of €100,000 per week.

If the ferry had gone much closer to the shore we would have been visiting the villa. Not very convenient as apparently there is no road access, not public road anyway. Perhaps there is a helideck. In any event if he does visit there is much less fuss than when George Clooney arrives at nearby Laglio. His arrival is announced by the police presence around his villa.

When we arrived at Lenno the heavens opened once again. By luck we were able to adjourn to the Bar Golfo to wait while the storm passed over. With careful timing we were able to get home without getting wet.
