View from the top of the walking drag Line
This is looking over St Aidans Country Park which was once an open cast coal site, see blips for 14th and 15th The little wooden hut is the RSPB visitor centre, they are managing it, but unfortunately they can't operate there at the moment, it's all due to red tape, I don't know the full story. They started out OK built the car park and visitor centre had a big official opening day then had to close them, things should have been sorted last October but still no news on when it will be back in their hands. Meanwhile it's a great place for walking the dogs, picnicking, cycling, some really good walks all round and birdlife on the lakes. The only unfortunate thing is you have to park outside on the grass verge and it gets pretty churned up in winter.
