Plumed Whistling Duck!
Manual Setting Challenge: Day 15
I have to confess that this morning I had to revert to the Manual Setting Mode because I was far too frustrated trying to get the settings right in the Aperture Priority Mode. I was trying to take an image of the Plumed Whistling Duck.
I returned to the Botanical Gardens specifically to take images of this extraordinary Duck. I had taken shots yesterday but opted for the Magpie Goose. I was so thrilled to see it hit the Spotlight for quite some time today, thanks so much for the hearts and stars that put it there.
The interesting thing about the Whistling Duck is that they don't really like water very much. They love to sun bake on the banks of the lake or stream but then they fly off into the grasslands to feed and in fact eat grass like ducks. I had to admit that although a couple of them took a bath the others were very happy lazing in the sun.
It was just wonderful at the Gardens this morning. It was a glorious sunny day and there were birds everywhere. It's a real find and I know I'm going to spend many happy hours there. At some stage when I've run out of birds I can turn my attention to a shot of "Hinkler House".
