Well I Never
An interesting day that involved getting up at 4am and sitting in Edinburgh airport for 5 hours for a flight to Cardiff that never arrived. I love the fact that in Britain we go to such lengths to avoid speaking to one another UNTIL there is something collective to complain about. You could see strangers itching to discuss the delay and desperately trying to catch one another eye in order to offer tit-bits of information: 'my colleagues in glasgow and they've just found out that Cardiff's closed till 10am, they're getting information 20 minutes before us.'
My favorite discussion of the morning came from the 3 air-traffic controllers who were sitting behind me. I'm not a great fan of flying and it's less than reassuring to hear them discussing their colleagues: 'she's useless... doesn't understand why you need to provide a call sign' and '40 years in the service and he's not killed anyone... yet'!
I gave up at 10am and went back to the studio. By 4pm my eyes felt like gob stoppers and, with the world was turning slightly surreal, I decided I was achieving nothing and came home. I blipped the other side of the Well Enhancer on the way, although I'm not sure which is the 'business end' as they both look quite useful.
