Magic Mile

This afternoon was our school's annual running event. Previously known as the Fun Run and held in Bushy Park, this year it had been renamed the Magic Mile and was held at St Mary's University.

There were two events, a timed mile and a mile for fun. James was very keen to do the timed race and looked very focused as he was doing the group warm up.

The race was started by Andy Vernon, who is a long distance runner and will be representing GB in the Commonwealth Games at the end of next month (he also happens to be my friend's 'Manny'!). This was another reason James was excited, as he wanted to show the real runner how fast he was!

And I have to say, he did very well coming 16th in the kids race and 1st in Year 3. I was very proud of him, not just because of the position, but because he did it on his own, as none of his close friends were there. Here he is at the end with his medal and his signed postcard from Andy!
