MERIDIAN
The (old*) Greenwich Meridian passes through Durham Cathedral and is marked discreetly on the wall and on a flagstone in the Cloister. I doubt that most people passing from Eastern to Western Hemisphere or vice versa even notice the marks.
*The current Greenwich Meridian was fixed about 6 metres further east in 1851, but this earlier one was what was used in the original Ordnance Survey maps. You can read about it here, if you're interested. I started to, but it all got rather complicated, so I decided to have a cup of tea instead.
