TINY BEAUTY

This pretty iridescent fly is listed in my book about insects simply as a Long-legged Fly. It’s a tiny little thing between 1/16 to 1/4 inch long (2 – 6 mm) and described as having a slender body “beautifully colored with green, blue, metallic gold or silver. Some look almost like flying jewelry!” I found it sunning on a hosta leaf this morning.

Our company has returned home and I’m happy to report they had no major issues with our visiting skunk. We’re now trying to figure out how to stop the raccoons from tearing down and destroying the bird feeders during the night. It’s one thing after another!
