Sluggish Activity

I've just Googled "slugs and nasturtiums" and found that "slugs go to nasturtiums like moths to a light bulb". Be that as it may, I've never seen a moth crunching its way through a glass light bulb, have you?

We've put a few nasturtiums into our hanging baskets and troughs this year (ok, when I say "we" I do of course mean the royal we). They do/did look really nice, but suddenly our local slugs and snails, and maybe even puppy-dogs' tails, have got a whiff of them.

This one reminds me of a Margarita glass - when the rim has been dipped in lime juice and then into salt or sugar. I think this particular slug/snail must have made itself dizzy and then fallen off, as it was obviously doing circuits.

I was looking forward to having a few leaves in our salads, but I'm not so sure now.
