The Good Ship Dazzle

The annual Mersey River Festival is taking place this weekend, and some tall ships have moored up by the Albert Dock whilst a warship stands by at the Pierhead, but the boat that caught my eye was a pilot boat which has been painted like a giant deck chair. The artist for the work is the 90 year old Carlos Cruz-Diez, who was commissioned to produce this piece of art for this year's Liverpool Biennial. The actual painting was done by workers at Cammell Laird shipyards across the river, and the idea comes from the painting of merchant ships during World War 1 to confuse the enemy.
