Life of Tweed Green

I know I have posted this scene a few times recently (showing the finishing line of the Three Bridges Race and the Tweed Love bike festival). I particularly like the views from either side of the Tweed Bridge (from where this photo was taken). There is always something to see - the river beneath, some times running high and fast, other times with its water ambling by smoothly, the conical peak of Lee Penn in the distance. Tonight some kayakers were on Tweed Green blowing up inflatable kayaks ready for a paddle downstream in the warm evening air. Nearby a woman sat alone on an outstretched rug eating sandwiches and watching the world go by. There is something timeless about this place used by so many different people for different activities through the centuries. In the past the people living alongside the river hung their washing out to dry on the Green. The posts are still there but no one puts their clothes out here any more.
