Moaness Pier, Hoy

Although Radio Orkney said 'brighter later' it never came. A very grey day, even a bit chilly at the back of mid-day.

We started out by buying a nest of tables for CMC Snr and delivering them. We caught the Hoy boat with the intention of walking in the Hoy Hills. However the haar and mist saw us drinking tea all day and cattching up on the news with the Hoy Postmistress. I managed to excuse myself to slope off and start reading 'Howards End'.

After supper we went to see our friends F and P who stay around the bay. In the middle of a great chat F took one if his turns and we had to phone NHS 24 to get the Doctor, who zoomed up from Lomghope. As we left F was just coming round but he was still very groggy and disorientated. The Doc was going to stay with him for a while.

As we got to the Pier for the 10.15pm ferry we met in with a party of folk who had been celebrating CMC's sister-in-law's 60th birthday party at the Hoy cafe. We hadn't seen the folk since a wedding on Flotta, two years ago, so we had a good catch up on the boat. The MV Graemsay was being skipperd by Liam who sat his ticket a peedie while ago. It's his first week as Skipper.

No-one seemed to know who owns the boat which had been left at the top of the pier. Albert will investigate.

We hope F has a good night - we will phone tomorrow to find out.
