Black Rock 5

Tonight I ran the Black Rock 5, my first race of the year after my injuries. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to run, then I wasn't sure I was going to make it to the end.

I thought if I can finish if be happy, then I thought if I can get under an hour I'd be happy. I finished in 43 minutes. I'm absolutely ecstatic. I never dreamed I'd be able to do that.

But I couldn't have done it without these two; Chris (right) and Toby (left). Chris is my coach, he ran with me the majority of the way, talking me through it, helping me, giving encouragement. Nearing the end, another runner needed his help so he dropped back, and I pushed on. Cue Toby. Toby wasn't even running, he was a spectator - but he ran alongside me talking and giving me encouragement.

Everyone needs a Chris and a Toby. Absolutely amazing people. Thank you so much.

All the porties did brilliantly well tonight, it was such a great atmosphere. I'm so happy to be back with the club and back running again.
