Freeway Rose

Ten years ago, or so, a horticulturist for the State Department of Transportation talked to our garden club about the landscaping along the freeways in Portland. He came with a number of rose bushes to give away. This pink rose at the corner of our yard is all tangled up with daylilies, but looks just like all her cousins gracing the exits and dividers of I-5, I-84, I-405, US 26, and many more highways through town.
