ORBWEAVER WEAVING A WEB

I’m excited to find my attempts were successful to get this spider working on its web. You can see its spinneret at the tip of its abdomen where it is processing the silk fibers for its web. I think it’s an Orbweaver, but I don’t know which variety it is.

On Flickr there’s another shot that shows more detail of the web it's working on. (If the spider had been clear, it would have been my blip today because of the web.) Also on Flickr is a mean-looking carpenter ant that shows the saw-tooth edges of its mandible. No wonder they can chew through lumber!
