Brazil Day, Trafalgar Square
The start of the World Cup today. Hope against hope that England will make a good showing, but who knows. I was up in London for a couple of meetings about the Prison virtual learning environment that I'm working on. We're making good progress in making changes to the structure and appearance of the learning environment but it's a bit late in the day for this sort of fundamental work to have to be done. The old adage "If I was going to create this learning environment I wouldn't start from here" holds very true.
The other meeting was with the British Dyslexia Association at the RAF Club. Very interesting to be able to visit this location which was full, not surprisingly of RAF types with the walls adorned with photographs and paintings of aeroplanes and people. We learned a considerable amount from the people around the table and it added another dimension to our work on creating the learning platform as we realised that the developers had not really considered the needs of people with dyslexic tendencies.
On the way back to Charing Cross station I passed Trafalgar Square where Brazil Day was in full swing with all the flavour you'd expect from a Latin American country. This couple were enjoying dancing to the Latin beat as were many others. A great party atmosphere. I didn't have time to capture many shots but hope this conveys some of the movement of the dance.
