Music
Today's post is simply about one of my passions. I love music of nearly every genre and thoroughly enjoy being exposed to great new music. Well, the best band I've been turned on to in the past few years is The Avett Brothers.
They play an ecclectic mix of folk-rock-bluegrass-punk with some alternative and pop sensabilities. Sounds like a mess, right? Well, only in the best possible way. Their sound varies a lot from song to song and album to album...the two brothers (Scott and Seth) both play three or four different instruments on different songs (and sometimes 2 or 3 different ones during the same song). I've seen them live four times and they are, in my view, the best thing going among touring bands right now.
For all you folks in Europe and Australia who may not have heard of them, they are heading your way for a month or two this Spring and I'd highly recommend checking them out if you want to see the best of what's around on the US music landscape right now.
The picture is of a poster from their concert last year in Portland, which sits atop my list of best shows I've ever been to.
