Poinsettia Flower
A winter flower in bloomed in Brisbane.
It is culturally associated with Christmas floral display; "Christmas Star", for its green and red foliage, which we in the Southern hemisphere adopt from our Northern cousin.
Interesting facts:
The poinsettia is indigenous to Mexico and Central America. Apparently it was named after the first US minister (Joel Roberts Poinsett) to Mexico in 1825 who introduced the plant to the USA. Thx Wikipedia.
