One Giant Leap for @GSofA

Tonight I am doing what I do best and procrastinating...
I went to see parts of the Glasgow School of Art degree show today before it opens to the public on Saturday.
Tonight I'm meant to be writing 900 words of perfectly crafted and lucid copy on my thoughts regarding this extraordinary show of students' work.
Following on from the great fire a few weeks ago which ripped through the Mackintosh Building, it's a strange kind of a degree show this year.
But the show must go on.
I bumped into Textile Design student, Francesca Stride putting the finishing touches to her show in the gallery area of the new Reid Building.
We had a good blether about the strangeness of this year's show but she made the point that a lot of the students had made work which was unaffected by the fire. Herself included.
I loved her presentation - she'd dressed cardboard mannequins in her designs and given them 'beanie type' t-bar sandals, which I'm very partial to...
I only realised when I looked through my pictures that her name seemed to talk out her shoes.
I've got to jump in tomorrow for a quick scout around the McLellan Galleries, where the fine art students work - whose work was destroyed in the fire - is to be featured in a special exhibition featuring one image per student.
Lesley, the redoubtable PR for the art school who has worked like a a Trojan in the aftermath of the fire these last few weeks, told me students were going in at 2pm today and working through the night to install the show.
