Boat Trip

Today was gloriously sunny - just as well as I'd booked a trip on a boat along the coast of North Devon - it is called a wildlife trip in the hope that one sees birds, porpoises and atlantic seals and the skipper gives an informative chat about the various villages one can see from the water. It was most enjoyable and we did see seals, several bird specie but no porpoises or dolphins. The sun shone, the boat was stable so no-one suffered with sea sickness and all in all a most pleasant way to spend a few hours. This of course was followed by fish and chips in a local eatery - and then as we were driving out of Ilfracombe we note several folks dressed in Victorian costume. They were lined up waiting for Queen Victoria to appear for a cream tea! This is an annual event spread out over a week and this year they have been so lucky with the weather. Makes a lot of difference obviously to have sun and thereby enable the 'Victorians' to wander around showing off their magnificent costumes.
