West Beach, Selsey
We were at a beach new to us today, the west beach at Selsey. It’s about 8 miles south of Chichester, with only one road in. The beach is a couple of miles long with houses only part of the way, and today, a hot and beautiful afternoon in June, we were the only people on the whole length of it. We walked along the beach and back by the coastal path which is suffering greatly from erosion, as is the whole of the Selsey coastline. When we emerged back into the town, a sign told us the path was official closed for safety reasons. Luckily we have eyes and could see the danger signs, keeping well away from the crumbling edge. I have never seen so much sea thrift in one place, acres of it.
