Fabulous Fresh Fritillary

I think it is a Heath, Mellicta Athalia, but am prepared to be corrected! We have this wonderful piece of protected meadow just above the village which does not get cut by the farmers or eaten by the cows. The flower is Astrantia, one of my favourite meadow flowers, but it is so common I do not think I have blipped it before. You can see more of the orchids and butterflies that live in this meadow on my Flickr account.

Velvety wings in large here.
