Can you see your flag?...

Can you see your flag? Everyone is gearing up for the start of the World Cup in Brazil. These flags are outside the Tib Street Tavern on, unsurprisingly, Tib Street in Manchester's Northern Quarter. It's one of the city's pubs where people like to gather to watch big football matches. With United and City in town we tend to have a lot of those. But, watching England this time round, it's more in hope than in anticipation I think...

We will be supporting Ing-er-land of course but I will be watching out for Greece. I drew them in the office sweepstake. Goodbye £10....

Tib Street is interesting for a number of reasons. Deep underneath it is one of Manchester's lost rivers, the River Tib. Further along its route in flows under Tib Lane near the Town Hall and even under the dining room of The French at the Midland Hotel. Something to consider when you are tucking into Mr. Rogan's, just missed out on the Michelin star, food...
