The sun sets on another day
Sally went home today and it is always sad saying farewell. We were up early to make the most of the few hours left and out of the self catering by 7.15am. The hare was in the field as we drove past. It stopped and looked at us and then ran away.
We drove through Redcastle stopping in the parking area for a while to watch a family of mallards walk along the mudflats. A heron was lurking in the reeds and the ducks seemed unaware, luckily I think the ducklings were now too big to make a tasty meal for the heron and they walked by with the heron remaining stationary.
As we carried on we pasted hedgerows filled with cow parsley and fading bluebells. A skein of Cananda geese skimmed over the glassy water. Too quick to be able to take a photo but the reflection was amazing to see and something we will remember.
A quick stop at North Kessock in the hope to see some dolphins but no luck and then off to Tesco for me to meet Mike and Sally to ill up the car with petrol.
David popped in to college to collect his result, well done David on achieving an A grade and well deserved, he's worked really hard. Back home for a cuppa and drop David off with all his art work and then back to the self catering.
After a heavy down pour the sun came out and we explored the local roads. The buzzard I saw with Sally was back in the tree. The cows were munching away on the grass. We came across a lovely old ruined croft. Full of character and neglected long ago.The views above Reelig were stunning. Many trees had been chopped down revealing a view that went on for miles across the Beauly Firth and beyond.
Mike went to help Eddie with the computer so I walked down the field. A hare was in the bottom one and had nt noticed me until I was quite close. It pushed itself down so that I could only just see him. The light was fading so the photos I took were not very sharp. I did capture this great sunset though and you might just be able to see some geese that flew past, honking as they flew.
