At the meadow edge
So we made it to the “tonooeje” at Formonthills Woodland in Glenrothes, and did a short walk, before Al spotted a daisy meadow and decided that we ought to go and hang out in there for a while, relaxing in the sunshine (as if I need more of that after last weekend – and once again we had no suncream as it had been left in the car). However, we ended up traversing a bit of bog to reach it, and both of us got a dunking on one foot. I had waterproof boots on and my sodden one dried really quickly in the sun, but Al had to take his off and wring his drenched sock out before hanging it up to dry on a branch above us. We settled down for a leisurely break while we waited for the sock to evaporate its water; the only thing missing was a picnic hamper full of goodies – the squashed bar of rum & raisin fudge and half bottle of fruity fizzy water didn't cut it really.
The weather was actually perfect – for me anyway. It was very warm but there was lots of cloud cover rather than direct sunlight, so I didn’t miss the suncream after all. Felt happily lethargic and lazy but decided I better attempt to take some photographs so tried to do some ground level shots of the daisies stretching away into the distance. It didn’t work that well, but we were lying at the edge of the meadow where the daisies were sparser. Al suggested I crawl further into the midst of the daisies and try from there but I didn’t think the results of that were much better really.
Just before we left though, a butterfly arrived and I took some shots of it while waiting for Al to get himself sorted out. I wasn’t expecting anything spectacular – especially as it kept twisting away with its wings folded up tight every time I took a snap – but I liked this one with the grass blades slicing in different directions and the blue splats of Speedwell dotted here and there.
