No God, No Master

Carlo watched NO GOD, NO MASTER as I rubbed his belly.

It's an excellent film for several reasons:
1) Real historical figures (good & bad) are portrayed fairly, and real events are rendered accurately enough, while fitting a lot of threads into one film.
2) It correctly conveys the message of anarchism.
3) The acting & direction are very fine, with a small budget. Not fancy, just good.
3) The dangers of mass deportation, mass incarceration, corruption in government, and xenophobia as shown by the film are starkly relevant today.

The film suffers a bit from relatively minor flaws:
1) It too often seems corny, and there is not enough laughter, as there would be with so many anarchists in the story.
2) The music makes it more corny and didn't seem right for this film..

My cat Carlo, named after Carlo Tresca, is delighted that his eponymous hero is in the film. Anarchist cat says that the old Carlo would approve.

The trailer had me worried, but David Strathairn just became the best actor alive on this planet for starring in this movie. For years I've been complaining about how no professional films are ever made about extremely compelling stories from anarchist history.

DO NOT MISS THIS ONE. It exists on DVD but it's not in US cinemas, and Netflix has not listed it, BUT you have to see it anyway. Make a point of it, as I did. A good film on a subject like this rarely happens.
