A touch of velvet

Wandering around the garden to see what damage the recent very heavy rains had wreaked i was totally struck by this wondrous touch of velvet. it was all that remained of a once flamboyant red ladybird poppy. Not for the first, or last time, I salute Mother Nature's creativity. I just want to reach out and stroke its softness.
